Judge Not, Lest You be Judged!

Matthew 7:1
“Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

We often hear and say this quote without knowing the context just to protect our ego.

On the scientifical side:

We always judge whether we like it or not because it is a part of our survival instinct. Using our 5 senses, we interpret those data in a split second then react.

On the philosophical side:

I often get to internet debates when sharing the gospel. And I always stumble being called judgmental. It is easy, I say the commandments of Jesus then as a result they call me judgmental even if I say “WE” all sinned.

What does it really mean?

Maybe it reflects our emotional state. When someone calls you a Martian, would you get upset or not, or would you just laugh?

Same thing if a person calls you names like slut, idiot, stupid, sinner or judgmental. It only reflects their emotional side to other people.

Finally, let’s be honest here. Our mind creates judgment based upon the input given to our 5 senses, which is sometimes 6 for my colleagues out there. It may be good or bad, and some say it but some don’t. But in the end, we will stilll decide however we perceive whatever stimulus we receive.

My take?!

Gather the evidence first, then decide!

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

What happens in hell:

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.

How to be saved:

Romans 10:9

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

  1. This is my take…

“Judge Not” sounds pious and it is oh so very politically correct. Take a minute to see what God really says about judging…

Ezekiel 33:8 When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand.

John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Matthew 7:15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you pretending to be sheep. But on the inside they are hungry wolves. 16 You can tell what they really are by what they do.

“Do people pick grapes from bushes? Do they pick figs from thorns? 17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit. But a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t bear bad fruit. And a bad tree can’t bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down. It is thrown into the fire. 20 You can tell each tree by its fruit.

1 Timothy 5:20 Those who continue in sin, rebuke in the presence of all, so that the rest also will be fearful of sinning.

Luke 17:3a Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him…

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Titus 1:13 This testimony is true. For this reason, reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith,

Titus 2:15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

    David…
